Dwight Yoakam – Hillbilly DeLuxe

A great sounding record. Flat and quiet. No clicks and pops. Huge soundstage. Never a dull moment. Bought it on Amazon (Canada) for $37.47 tax in and delivered.
The album was delivered in a solid undamaged box, but the album itself was totally mangled. I didn't even remove the plastic film cover. I couldn't believe that anyone could have packaged such an obviously totaled album. It looked as if it had been exposed to very high heat. There's no way that the record would have been playable. I returned it for a replacement copy, which is perfect. Hard to believe. So be aware of that possibility. Aside from that, the record itself is excellent, and highly recommended.

Super clean and quiet pressing. Dynamic and good soundstage. Definite buy.

I think my favorite song on this is Johnson's Love. It really highlight's Dwight's ability to ache while singing. The entire album is wonderful. Every song is great. EVERY SONG!

Full of the energy of his lives shows from that time. Plus, Brantley was still playing with him and he was still working with Pete Anderson so you can still hear a bit of the punk that underlies Dwight's early work.

Dwight Yoakam's 2nd release and it's good. I picked up this pressing recently, in great shape and sounds good. A good addition to my country (and western!) collection.
