I think it's terrible what happened to this band. NWOBHM was a very crowded field and these guys came on a bit too late. Metal was evolving and Cobra got no compensation or recognition for their two great albums. They had one hand tied behind their backs trying to record the records themselves, with no help from their label. The recordings are flawed. But the songwriting, especially the lyrics is just fantastic. It shines through the sonic flaws, especially if you pay attention to what these songs are saying. They've been tremendously inspiring to me in what's maybe the most challenging period of my life.

Back from the Dead is an amazing album. And thanks very much to Cult Metal Classics for re-pressing the album on CD and vinyl. I bought both and the bonus tracks are a great addition to what is already an excellent album. I think that Cobra deserves to go alongside Angel Witch and Cirith Ungol. I get so much more from these guys than I ever could from Iron Maiden and Metallica. The songs just go to a different type of place.
