Quite simply the highest quality Blue Note reissues you can buy. 100% analog cuts by Kevin Gray and pressed at RTI. The gatefold jackets are almost like hardback books, no joke. Unfortunately the company decided to fade out amid some customer complaints, stop all third party distribution, and engage in yo-yo pricing. They are still selling remaining stock on their website but the prices seem to change frequently. Some of the titles that I bought at the MSRP of $35 or $40 are now selling on the site for $65+, but don't be surprised if they come back down in a month or two if they "find" more stock or if they just figure out people aren't biting at those prices. It's too bad they couldn't hire some help that would attract and retain customers rather than alienate them like the owner appears wont to do.
I have to draw the line somewhere so I've been buying more and more Blue Note titles on CD. For audiophile Jazz reissues on vinyl, Analogue Productions' current Prestige series is my top alternative right now. No yo-yo pricing on that series from authorized retailers or when ordering direct from Acoustic Sounds as far as I can tell. Music Matters could learn a thing or two from them.
