Tower

Ah, Tower Records, Capitol's sub-label for it's castaways and artists considered 'too freaky' to be on Capitol. Beyond this, it was an incredible diverse label, releasing everything from the first stateside issue of Pink Floyd's debut LP, Eternity Children's s/t debut LP, and several albums each by the Chocolate Watchband and the Standells, to Harry Nilsson's first LP (back when he was doing publishers demos), the Afro Latin Soultet and Mae West's "Way Out West" LP (in which she is backed by part of Eternity's Children doing covers of 60's rock songs).

But one of the main reasons I like Tower is for the diverse selection of exploitation soundtracks released on the label, including films like "Wild In The Streets", "The Wild Angels", "Psych-Out", "Mondo Hollywood", "Dr. Goldfoot & the Girl Bombs" and "Underground".

It should be noted that currently, some Tower LP's have been reissued on CD on various labels, while other tracks have been collected piecemeal on compilations, and a bulk of the lesser interesting titles have languished in obscurity, some for the better (Justin Wilson, anyone?)
