MIT Media Lab

MIT Media Lab is an interdisciplinary laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, founded in 1985. The Lab covers a broad range of research topics and experimental fields, including neurobiology, socially engaging robots, emotive computing, bionics, digital audio synthesis, machine listening, and many others. MIT Media Lab is known for some significant technological inventions and commercially successful spin-offs, such as E Ink ("electronic paper" displays in Amazon Kindle and other e-readers), Guitar Hero, MPEG-4 Structured Audio standard, LEGO Mindstorms, Hyperscore music composition software, One Laptop Per Child project, etc.
