The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an international humanitarian movement with approximately 97 million volunteers, and staff worldwide which was founded to protect human life and health, to ensure respect for all human beings, and to prevent and alleviate human suffering. It was founded in 1863 in Geneva, Switzerland, in particular by Henry Dunant and Gustave Moynier. Are of the Movement, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, and 192 National Red Cross or Red Crescent societies, one per country, except in Oman and in the Vatican. |
