I concur with the frustrations of others. Guess the label is taking whatever source they are given by whoever they struck a deal with and sending that to a CD/vinyl pressing plant with no care for provenance, investment in professional equipment or mastering cleanup. They are definitely not tracking down master tapes / mothers or making use of modern noise reduction technologies. But once in a while the source is of good quality and it takes care of itself.
On a positive note: “when in Rome” the Radiation Records shops are worthwhile stop for used and new stock. -
The I-Roy Dread Bald Head sounds fine. No noise, pressing is flat and well-centered. I have no original to compare it to and can’t find it on the streaming services. So all I can speak to is the pressing, which is flawless.

Edited 11 months agoI got screwed buying an album from these guys not knowing how crap their pressings are, sounds like a bad youtube clip with pops and cracks on a new record. Pits pressed into it causing super loud pops.

Edited 2 years agoI recently bought King Tubby's classics, chapter 1 & 2. While the record is playing well and loud, the transfer to vinyl sounds awful. There is this white noise all the time to every single track. Probably all the tracks were transferred from cassettes or something similar, i'm not expert to know if you can remove this white noise before cutting the vinyl, but those two specific titles seem to suffer from this white noise, especially when you are in the middle of tracks and there is no sound at all!

I will update my comments about Radiation Roots label.
Some records sounds better than others, must check them one by one.
I've just listened to Slim Smith double compilation, some tracks sounds fine while some has a bit distorsion.
Some of them sounds like they were transfered from vynils, sometimes nicely, sometimes not.
Please add some reviews on each record to help buyers in their quest.

I own the Marley RSD reissue, Augustus Pablo, a couple dillinger, jackie mittoo, and at least a DOZEN more of these labels titles and they all sound absolutely OK. Some of these are impossibile to find in any other versions so Im 100% satisfied with my purchases.
