Italian bass player born in Taranto on January 25 1952, active especially in the pop-rock scene of the seventies and eighties. He is famous for being Franco Battiato's bassist on the album "L'arca di Noè" and in the best-selling masterpiece "La voce del padrone". Donnarumma has recorded bass guitar on over 120 albums from 1973 to the present day; among the most important collaborations: Lucio Dalla, Mina, Giuni Russo, Alice, Milva, Giusto Pio, Ron, Loredana Bertè, Gianna Nannini, Marco Ferradini, Edoardo Bennato, Maurizio Arcieri, Bruno Lauzi, Demetrio Stratos, Cocciante and many others.
Donnarumma's distinctive tone is attributable to his intense use of the alternate-picking technique; his main instrument is a Fender Precision Bass from the seventies.
He was mentioned during the analysis of Franco Battiato and Lucio Dalla's multitracks in two episodes of the Sky Arte docies "33 Giri - Italian Masters" (S1E1 and S1E7).
