American organist and pianist (b. August 31, 1891 in Philadelphia, PA – d. August 5, 1978 in West Palm Beach, FL)

The daughter of a German-born piano tuner and sister of theater organist William Klaiss, Viola Klaiss (married name Spotts) played the organ on several recordings for Victor in 1928. In 1923, she d that she was working at the Palace Theatre in Philadelphia. In Jan. 1926, she accompanied the Charlie Chaplin film "Gold Dust" on that cinema's organ.
