Svetlana Fomina plays violin, viola, viola d’amore, renaissance and medieval viella. She is born in Tomsk, a small Siberian village. She gets the diploma with honors at the Conservatory of Novosibirsk (equal university degree). At seventeen she begins her concert career with the Philharmonic Society of Novosibirsk, starting in the same year the ancient music studies, from the Middle Ages to the Nineteenth century. At twenty she wins an improvement scholarship at the Conservatory of Milan. She moves to Italy, ending her violin and viola studies, getting better in viola with W. Christ at the Conservatory of Lugano, baroque violin with C. Bianchini in Basel, baroque violin with R. Göbel at Köln, viola with D. Zaltron in Turin, viola with D. Rossi in Pinerolo,
baroque violin with E. Gatti in Milan. She performs in the most prestigious halls of Europe, United States, Argentina, Japan and Israel, even as a soloist, in chamber groups like Sol Invictus duet, in Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI since 2000.
She played in Concerto Köln, Le Musiciens du Louvre, I Barocchisti, Accademia Bizantina, Sentieri Selvaggi, Montis Regalis, Mala Punica, La Venexiana, La Mandragora, Le Musiciens du Prince. With Ludovico Einaudi’s sextet she performs more than 150 concerts all over the world.
